  • Stargazing Celestial Cruise On Maui
  • Narrated By Astronomer Harriet Witt
  • Appetizers & Refreshments Included

Sunset & Celestial Cruise

During this Stargazing cruise, you’ll enjoy delicious appetizers, drinks and Maui’s famous sunsets while learning about Polynesian navigation (wayfinding) and how these amazing people utilized the stars to find the Hawaiian Islands.

Once the sun sets and stars begin to appear, Harriet will highlight specific stars to observe and relate stories about their significance to the Hawaiian culture in juxtaposition with popularly known Greek cultural explanations.

Throughout the year, Maui’s night skies light up through wondrous and fantastical meteor showers. Commonly called “shooting stars,” these naturally occurring pieces of space debris rub against Earth’s atmosphere and burn, creating bright streaks across the sky. With Maui’s unique position in the Pacific, there are numerous opportunities from January to December to witness these celestial wonders!

Astronomer Harriet Witt is known for her entertaining and informative commentary on all things celestial. As a special bonus during winter months, you’ll experience whale breaches and hear the beautifully haunting songs of humpback whales under the stars if the waters are calm and a hydrophone is lowered into the sea.
