Sail With The Whales Mā’alaea
Set sail into Maui’s whale-watching paradise aboard Akialoa, a 54’ performance sailing catamaran. With limited guest capacity, shaded cabin seating, and relaxing bow trampolines, you enjoy an intimate and luxurious experience on the water.
This midday Whale Watching Sail offers a refreshing break in your day and a spectacular window into whale season. Keep your eye out for exciting humpback behaviors during this time, such as tail slaps, breaches, and playful surface activity.
The ʻauʻau Channel, a shallow and sheltered stretch of water between Maui and its neighboring islands, is a renowned gathering place for Pacific humpback whales each winter as they migrate from Alaska to mate, give birth, and nurture their young. Here, the water goes from shallow to deep and back very quickly, offering ideal conditions for them.
Your seasoned crew will share fascinating insights and exceptionally friendly service as you take in the magic of pure sailing with minimal motor use. Feel the wind in your hair as we hoist sail, and the awe of witnessing the humpback whales up close.

- No refunds for cancellations within 48 hours of activity
- For groups of 6+ there are no refunds for cancellations within 72 hours of activity
- We will gladly reschedule your activity at no extra cost if changes are made prior to the 48 or 72 hour cancellation period.
- Cancellations from date of booking to 48 hours before activity or for larger groups 72 hours before activity are subject to a 10% service charge
- If for some reason we are unable to confirm your reservation with the activity operator due to oversold seats or other unforeseen reasons, a full refund will be provided and you will be notified immediately to discuss alternative dates and activities
If a tour operator cancels any trip due to weather, mechanical failure, unsafe conditions, or insufficient reservations, a full refund will be provided.
