Manta Ray Night Snorkel In Kona
The manta ray night snorkel experience is an activity that can only be had in a few locations around the world; one of them is here on the Island of Hawaiʻi. You’re unlikely to find another activity providing an incredible adrenaline rush while being safe and low-risk! Manta ray snorkeling will give you an unforgettable sensation. It is both humbling and awe-inspiring.
Guests will enjoy a 5-10 minute ride on a Hawaiian double-hull canoe to the manta ray snorkel site near the mouth of Keauhou Bay (1/4 mile from the pier). Your professional guides will provide a safety briefing, instructions on using snorkel gear, and fit the group with wet suit tops to keep you warm in the water.
Guests will then be guided into the water and positioned along the perimeter of the Light Board. A professional guide will be in the water with guests at all times! While guests watch for manta rays, they will keep the Light Board in position. Simply hang on to the handles and effortlessly float, face down, with the help of the provided floatation devices. The powerful lights attract photosynthetic plankton toward the group, and the manta rays come in search of the plankton! They will reposition the group as needed for optimal manta ray viewing!

- If you are concerned about your ability to swim, please call Eka Canoe Adventures to discuss this. There are certain steps they can take to make you feel comfortable and safe on your trip, like the utilization of floatation devices and placing you close to the vessel or a professional guide.
- If you’ve never snorkeled before don’t worry. They will get you fitted with a mask and teach you how to position the mask. While breathing through a tube seems a bit weird, it will become more natural after a few minutes. The small group sizes allow them help guests who need extra assistance with their snorkel gear.
- Remember that manta rays are wild – They are not trained or human-fed. Numbers may vary

- High-quality, comfortable masks and snorkels are provided. As well as prescription mask options that help those who require glasses. You can wear your contacts with a normal mask, but be mindful to keep them from getting washed away by a splash of ocean water.
- Small group sizes of 12 or less enable the crew to assist each guest with snorkel gear, answer questions, and help calm any nerves!
- If you’re concerned that you will get seasick, they highly recommend you take seasickness medication beforehand.
- You can bring your own camera. However, they are not responsible if it gets lost at sea, damaged, or destroyed. Please prepare your equipment accordingly.

- For groups of 6+ there are no refunds for cancellations within 72 hours of activity
- We will gladly reschedule your activity at no extra cost if changes are made prior to the 48 or 72 hour cancellation period
- Cancellations from date of booking to 48 hours before activity or for larger groups 72 hours before activity are subject to a 10% service charge
- If for some reason we are unable to confirm your reservation with the activity operator due to oversold seats or other unforeseen reasons, a full refund will be provided and you will be notified immediately to discuss alternative dates and activities
If a tour operator cancels any trip due to weather, mechanical failure, unsafe conditions, or insufficient reservations, a full refund will be provided.
